I’m a relative newcomer to The Armed but this record might edge out the others as my favorite. A bunch of their “best” songs performed as a band(s) (watch the movie of this to get what I mean). But for me the standout is “Where Man Knows Want”. There is a significant difference from the version on Ultrapop: in the last section they add a counterpoint vocal to the pummeling chords and screamed vocals that elevates an already fantastic ending to something else entirely. The Australian experimental duo's sprawling and nearly hour-long seventh record is filled with synths, strings, and samples. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 13, 2024
This one also took me a while to get into. It strikes me as less HC than Untitled and less poppy than Ultrapop (stupid I know). Let's call this the No Wave record. Its musical (and amusical) density is matching the persistent sound in my head right now. barnaby nygren
